Job Title: Data Scientist – Operations Improvement<p>📍 Location: Calgary, AB (Onsite 4–5 days/week)</p><p> ⏳ Contract: 5 Months (with potential extension)</p>About the Role<p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>Data Scientist</strong> to join our client’s Operations Improvement team in the <strong>oil & gas / mining sector</strong>. This role involves applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and optimization techniques to drive measurable improvements in operations. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to design, implement, and scale impactful data-driven solutions.</p>Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Apply advanced statistics, machine learning, and optimization techniques to solve complex operational challenges.</li><li>Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.</li><li>Build and deploy scalable solutions using <strong>Python</strong>, ML libraries, and cloud platforms.</li><li>Translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless solution integration.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li><strong>Education</strong>: Master’s degree in STEM discipline OR BSc Engineering with strong statistics background.</li><li><strong>Experience</strong>: 10+ years in data science, analytics, or advanced modeling.</li><li><strong>Industry Knowledge</strong>: Oil & Gas sector (oil sands and/or petroleum refining experience strongly preferred).</li><li><strong>Technical Expertise</strong> in:</li><li>Statistics & Machine Learning</li><li>Python (Scikit-learn, Pandas, Numpy, Pyomo)</li><li>Azure, Databricks, Unity Catalog</li><li>Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.</li><li>Proven track record in solving operational problems (portfolio of case studies required).</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Lean Six Sigma certification or training.</li><li>Hands-on experience in mathematical optimization (LP, MIP, CP, genetic algorithms).</li></ul>How to Apply<p>If you are a <strong>data-driven problem solver</strong> with deep oil & gas expertise and a passion for driving operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you.</p><p> 👉 Please send your updated resume to <strong>tarun@proit-usa.com</strong></p><ul><li>.</li></ul>
