Position Title: Functional Product Owner
Various position levels for each position:
Junior-level – 2-3 years of experience
Mid-level – 4-8 years of experience
Senior-level – 10+ years of experience
Location: Huntsville, AL (Hybrid/On-Site preferred, possibly remote)
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
CODEplus is seeking a Functional Product Owner to support modernization efforts within the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) environment supporting mission-critical Army tactical systems.
The selected candidate will serve as the bridge between operational stakeholders, mission users, and Agile software delivery teams to ensure modernization priorities, mission objectives, and operational outcomes are effectively translated into executable development requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the functional lead and primary liaison between government stakeholders, operational users, and Agile development teams
- Define, prioritize, and manage product backlogs aligned with mission objectives and operational priorities
- Translate operational and functional requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and modernization roadmaps
- Support capability planning, requirements refinement, and feature prioritization across modernization initiatives
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate closely with software engineering, DevSecOps, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and test teams
- Coordinate stakeholder feedback, operational validation, and user acceptance activities
- Support modernization planning involving interoperability, integration, operational workflows, and mission effectiveness
- Assist with release planning, dependency management, risk identification, and cross-functional coordination
Desired Skills
- Strong understanding of Agile software development and SAFe® environments
- Experience supporting mission-critical DoD systems, tactical operations, or defense modernization programs
- Familiarity with DevSecOps delivery models, modernization initiatives, and software lifecycle management
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and requirements management skills
- Experience using Agile management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Confluence
- Ability to align technical delivery efforts with operational mission outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Military Science, or related field
- Experience in product ownership, functional analysis, operational requirements, or Agile program support
- SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or related Agile certification preferred
- Prior experience supporting Army or integrated tactical defense systems highly desired
