Role Description
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced HR Coordinator to support our staff of ~50 people on a part‐time basis. The role will be remote, requiring approximately 8–10 hours per week. The person in this role will help strengthen HR processes, ensure our policies are up-to-date and aligned with Québec and federal regulations, and support a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
- Manage onboarding and orientation for new employees, interns, and volunteers
- Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbook, and internal procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements in Québec/Canada
- Maintain employee records, ensuring data is kept confidential and secure
- Support recruitment: job postings, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, reference checks
- Advise staff and management on HR questions, policy interpretation, benefit-related matters, workplace culture, and compliance issues
- Assist with performance management and staff development processes
- Address HR matters as they arise, including but not limited to workplace relations, policy enforcement, and employee well-being
- Process and coordinate bimonthly payroll in collaboration with finance team
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR experience, ideally including experience in a small NGO or non-profit setting
- Strong knowledge of Québec/Canadian employment laws, labour standards, and HR best practices
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong administrative capability
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing time responsibly with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds

- Ability to communicate fluently in both French and English
- Experience with payroll and HR software (ADP) is required
Requirements
- French is the primary working language at the Centre. However, proficiency in English is required for this position in order to communicate effectively with English-speaking staff members at the Centre
