Position Summary: Intake and Processing Attendants (IPAs) are often the first point of contact for members of the public requesting various records from the London Police Service (LPS). IPAs support Records Screening Operators and Freedom of Information Analysts by assisting customers in applying for and obtaining Criminal Record Checks, Record Suspensions, Adoption Record Checks, and Freedom of Information Requests. The IPA interacts with the public in a courteous and professional manner while working efficiently to assist a high volume of customers. The IPA uses an electronic booking system to book appointments for customers and reviews applications for accuracy. Responsibilities
Provide customer service to members of the public requesting various records by telephone, email, and in person.
Process applications for Criminal Record Checks, Record Suspensions, Adoption Record Checks, and Freedom of Information Requests.
Validate documentation required and produced for applications.
Provide assistance and/or instruction to members of the public with the completion of pertinent forms.
Communicate with Records Screening Operators to ensure accuracy of record check applications and adherence to applicable legislation and guidelines.
Fingerprint persons and obtain and record all necessary information from persons being fingerprinted to ensure accuracy and adherence to applicable legislation and guidelines.
Receive and process funds related to various records and issue receipts when required.
Prepare necessary accounting documents in accordance with LPS procedures to be directed to Financial Services.
File and purge electronic and paper documents according to LPS procedures.
Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
Requirements
Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
6-12 months’ experience in customer service.
Problem solving skills and judgement required for problems, situations and responsibilities that are covered by standards, precedents, and procedures.
Effective communication skills for regular contact with members of the public to give, obtain and/or exchange information with tact and courtesy.
Benefits/Pension: Temporary members receive ten percent (10%) of their hourly rate in lieu of benefits (after 120 calendar days) and are also eligible to join the OMERS Pension Plan upon their first day of hire.
