Metis Counseling Group is seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive, and collaborative Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing behavioral health practice on a part-time basis.
We are a community-focused outpatient practice dedicated to providing high-quality mental health care while fostering an environment of empowerment, accountability, autonomy, and social consciousness. We proudly serve diverse individuals, families, and communities throughout North Carolina.
Position Summary
The PMHNP will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and collaborative care coordination for adolescents (ages 16+) and adults receiving outpatient behavioral health services. The ideal candidate is committed to culturally competent care, trauma-informed practice, and reducing barriers to mental health treatment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders in adolescents (ages 16+) and adults
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and treatment team members
- Provide education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and wellness strategies
- Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, and community supports as appropriate
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and payer requirements
- Participate in case consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration
QualificationsRequired:
- Current North Carolina PMHNP license in good standing
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority
- National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Experience providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and documentation practices
Preferred:
- Experience working with Medicaid populations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
