Senior Accountant (Contract - 8 months)
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Financial Reporting:</strong> Prepare and analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and revenue forecasts to provide key insights into financial performance.</li><li><strong>Month-End:</strong> Lead month-end activities, including journal entries, reconciliations (AR, AP, prepaids, capital assets, accruals), and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.</li><li><strong>Balance Sheet Management:</strong> Conduct regular balance sheet reviews, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain financial integrity.</li><li><strong>Consolidated Financials:</strong> Prepare consolidated financial statements and related accounting memos.</li><li><strong>Management Reporting & Variance Analysis:</strong> Prepare internal financial reports, deliver variance analysis and commentary on financial results, and support business leaders with ad hoc analysis and data-driven insights.</li><li><strong>Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:</strong> Take ownership of reporting across industry and government requirements (e.g., CRTC, CFA, CRA), working closely with internal and external stakeholders.</li><li><strong>Management Reporting & Variance Analysis:</strong> Prepare internal financial reports, deliver variance analysis and commentary on financial results, and support business leaders with ad hoc analysis and data-driven insights.</li><li><strong>Internal Controls & SAP Process Improvement:</strong> Identify gaps in internal controls and accounting workflows, and drive improvements—particularly in optimizing use of newly implemented system for better efficiency, reporting, and data integrity.</li><li><strong>Audit & Tax Support:</strong> Assist with external audits by preparing financial schedules, reports, and documentation packages.</li><li><strong>Lease Accounting (U.S. GAAP):</strong> Own lease accounting compliance and maintain asset schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP, preparing relevant notes to financial statements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What You Bring</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li><strong>CPA designated or near completion</strong>, with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>3+ years of strong end-to-end accounting experience, including month-end close, full-cycle financial reporting, and consolidated financial statements with supporting notes. ideally in the Telecom, Real Estate, Infrastructure or Technology (IT consulting or infrastructure) related industries.</li><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>U.S. GAAP</strong>,<strong> </strong>especially lease accounting treatment—highly valued.</li><li><strong>Advanced Excel</strong> – Able to manage large data sets, using variety of advanced functionality within Excel (ability to write VBA Macros highly valued).</li><li>Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams.</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, influence senior leadership, and become a trusted business partner.</li><li>Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP highly valued).</li><li>Proven experience reviewing internal controls and drive system/process optimization.</li><li>Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple deliverables in a dynamic environment.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What You Bring</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li><strong>Work environment:</strong> Hybrid, 3 days in-office.</li><li><strong>Location:</strong> Toronto - Dufferin & Queen West.</li><li><strong>Type of Role:</strong> 8 month contract with potential for permanent.</li><li><strong>Compensation: </strong>Hourly Rate + 4% vacation pay</li></ul><p></p>
