The Senior Investigator leads all aspects of the internal investigations program and supports elements of the organized retail crime program within the assigned area. They perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the Stores asset protection investigations program to identify inventory and profit loss.
- Provide training on all investigative systems, tools/technology, and techniques to asset protection leaders and colleagues.
- Facilitate Macy's interview training and conduct certification processes for all participants.
- Actively participate in lead generation, case development, and investigative interviews in stores.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop investigations through exception reporting and trend analysis.
- Witness investigative interviews to provide coaching for improved technique and compliance with procedures.
- Coordinate closely with the Central Investigations Unit to develop and handle investigative leads expeditiously.
- Manage all major investigations, including those with significant financial impact, complexity, and high sensitivity.
- Take ownership of all internal case administration, including partnership with Colleague Advisory on dispositions and case approvals within the company-prescribed timeframe.
- Prepare and communicate major investigations to senior leadership.
- Make prosecutorial decisions on internal cases consistent with company guidance and standards.
- Provide testimony in criminal, civil, or administrative proceedings on behalf of the company.
- Provide direction and follow-up on all aspects of restitution, including issuing promissory notes and soliciting court-ordered restitution.
- Coordinate and cooperate with law enforcement agencies (federal, state, local) and prosecuting attorney's offices in directing investigations and presenting cases for prosecution.
- Maintain a global asset protection focus and leadership to support store leadership on external strategies, shortage reduction strategies, and talent development of AP leaders and colleagues in assigned locations.
- Utilize all investigative and analytical tools, including RFID technology, to analyze trends and patterns.
- Establish business partnerships with Region, Division, and Store leadership to accomplish individual and team goals.
- Support and respond to Organized Retail Crime investigations when appropriate, in partnership with the Senior Manager of ORC Investigations.
- Support Supply Chain investigations when appropriate.

Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead the execution of asset protection investigations and support the organized retail crime program within the assigned area.
- Proficiency in providing comprehensive training on investigative systems, tools/technology, and techniques to asset protection leaders and colleagues.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate interview training and certification processes.
- Proven capability to actively participate in lead generation, case development, and investigative interviews in stores.
- Ability to develop investigations through exception reporting and trend analysis.
- Effective coordination with the Central Investigations Unit and law enforcement agencies to develop and handle investigative leads.
- Establishing partnerships with Region, Division, and Store leadership to achieve goals.
- Utilizing investigative and analytical tools, such as RFID technology, to analyze trends and patterns effectively.
